Entering the Home Stretch for 2020

December 7, 2020

We are in the home stretch—it is the final month of the year. With Christmas a couple weeks away, most people in our business are on vacation mode. Either taking vacation trips or putting in less hours at the workplace since kids are on Christmas break, etc.

While this all may be true, I think this is the best time to go full throttle and here are the reasons why:

1. Less Competition

What I have seen in the past (being in an office environment) is that many agents/brokers spend less time prospecting towards the end of the year. As I mentioned above, people are normally on vacation. I find this to be the best time to connect with clients because they are less likely to be called by other agents in the business. Less competition means your probability of reaching the owner increases and you are more inclined to have a fruitful conversation because you are not the 10th person to call them that day about real estate.

2. Free Time

Remember: clients are on vacation mode, so they are more inclined to chat on the phone. Not all, but some are not as busy as they were the first 11 months of the year to discuss their real estate plans. It may be a time in which you can get all the decision makers in town—under one roof. It may be a little different due to Covid-19 this year. It allows for easier communication amongst the decision makers…but you get the point.

3. First Quarter (New Year)

The fruits of your labor will most likely be rewarded in the first quarter of the new year. As a result, you do not want to take your foot off the gas—petal to the metal. Even if you do not make a deal happen in the last month of the year, I guarantee that you will be farther along than most people who take it easy during the holidays and start business planning the first/second week of January.

To sum it up, this is a good time to put in the work while others are resting. Let’s crush it this upcoming year. Wish you all the best!
